i'm going to do a study on sophomores to see if they really did gain those dreaded freshmen 15. What would i make as my control group/experimental group? or should i follow some freshmen's weight and report the study at the end of the school year?|||I agree with Mizzy, you do not need a control group for this experiment. You should simply measure their weight at multiple points during the year (freshmen).
To make your study stronger, you might consider weighing your participants yourself (instead of letting them self-report), and trying to get a random sample of freshmen, so you are not just looking at students who ate in the cafeteria, or students who live in a certain dorm, etc. |||you dont need a control group since you are not manipulating anything. this isn't a true experiment, since your independent variable is time. the best thing to do is what you suggest, take their weight at the beginning of the year, half way through, and then at the end. |||yea, maybe i think the weight of the freshman would be the control group!!
have a nice day!1
