What is the difference between vehicle treated and a control group?

I have to present an article on stroke and in the article it says that one group is the vehicle treated group and the other is the experimented group. Is the vehicle treated group the same thing as a control group or is it different? (the article is on increase brain plasticity with human neural stem cells).|||A control group means they actually got the medicine. The vehicle group gets a placebo (fake medicine)
