What is an example of an experiment using a control group?

Not about a plant... that one is used to often

It has to have a:

Control Group

Experimental Group

Independent Variable

Dependent Variable

At least 5 Constants|||Does the presence of beetle 2 affect survival of beetle 1?

Controls: beetle 1 by itself

Experimental: beetle 1 with beetle 2

independent variables may be sunlight, food availability, time, temperature

dependent variables may be abundance of beetles, survival of beetle 1 which can depend on presence beetle 2 or availability of food (independent)|||Plant or no plant, they're all the same.

How about seeing if mice with more carbs in their diet get fatter than mice without?

Control group 鈥?the mice fed Purina mouse food.

Experimental group 鈥?the mice fed a mixture of Purina mouse food and rice (this diet to include the same number of calories at the control group)

Indept var - percent of calories from carbs

Dept var - how fat do they get

Constants鈥攃'mon, you can do this. I can't do the *whole* thing for you. Just think about it鈥攚hat do you want to keep the same for both groups? (I've already given you one.) What might affect the results? How often they bathe? How much they exercise? The color of their fur? Hours of sleep per day?
